They galloped across roads, tracks and through the town: almost 20 horses kept the police, motorists and rail passengers on their toes near Bautzen.

Almost twenty horses escaped from a paddock near Bautzen and even paralyzed rail traffic for a while. The animals ran off in various directions on Thursday and galloped across the Dresden-Görlitz train line, the B6, B96 and through the city of Bautzen, among other places, according to the police. The train line between Dresden and Görlitz was closed for an hour and a half.

According to the information provided, the animals were recaptured after around two hours - most of them near the stables, but also some much further east in Bautzen and in neighboring Großpostwitz. A vet examined the animals, two apparently suffered minor injuries. It was not initially clear how the horses escaped from the paddock in the municipality of Göda. A police helicopter was also deployed in the search for the animals.
