A survey conducted by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) shows that the business expectations of many companies in the Leipzig region have deteriorated significantly once again. As a result, vacant positions are often not being filled and investments are being cut back. "Companies are struggling with high costs, weak demand and a lack of reforms," stated Chamber President Kristian Kirpal.
This is how the turnaround can succeed, according to the Chamber of Industry and Commerce
He warned that decisive steps are finally needed to ensure the competitiveness of the economy. As examples, Kirpal cited a noticeable reduction in energy prices through the expansion of renewable energies and a permanent reduction in grid fees. The infrastructure for electricity and hydrogen must also be expanded.
Further demands included an early reduction in corporation tax and the abolition of EU regulations such as the Supply Chain Directive. A genuine reduction in bureaucracy is also needed. Kirpal: "This is the only way to restore confidence, planning security and growth impetus for our regional economy."
According to the information provided, 558 companies with more than 28,000 employees took part in the autumn economic survey.
