The Thuringian Bundesliga handball team suffered a setback. After a convincing first half at VfL Oldenburg, they fell off sharply.

The Thüringer HC women's handball team missed out on its fifth away win in a row in the German league. The team of Head Coach Herbert Müller was beaten 30:35 (19:17) at its neighbors in the table, VfL Oldenburg. Left winger Anna Szabo scored six goals in front of 1,364 spectators to become the best scorer for THC, who are fourth in the table with 21:11 points ahead of Oldenburg (16:12).

Although top scorer Johanna Reichert was under intense pressure, the club from Thuringia got into the game immediately and impressed in attack with its versatility and high tempo. Defensively, however, the visitors revealed weaknesses in the center of defense, meaning they only just led at the break.

THC got completely out of step after the break

The Thuringians were completely out of step after the break. They now failed repeatedly against Oldenburg's goalkeeper Madita Kohorst, who was getting stronger and stronger, and could no longer find any grip in defense.

The home side produced an 8:0 run to turn a 20:22 deficit (35th minute) into a 28:22 lead (47th minute). Although the THC rallied once more, it was no longer able to get within striking distance.
