RB Leipzig head coach Ole Werner expects "an absolute top match" against Bayer Leverkusen. The difficult personnel situation on both sides will not change that, said Werner ahead of the last Bundesliga home game of the year on Saturday (18:30/Sky) against the Werkself. "We're facing two teams who like to play forward. We want to say goodbye to the fans, who gave us sensational support in the first half of the season and played their part in our success," said the 37-year-old, who can once again rely on Ridle Baku and Romulo in the squad.
However, Johan Bakayoko is out again with muscle problems. The recently outstanding Yan Diomande and Amadou Haidara have been sent off for the Africa Cup in Morocco. Benjamin Henrichs (recovery training after Achilles tendon rupture), Antonio Nusa (syndesmosis ligament problem), Assan Ouédraogo (knee tendon problem), Viggo Gebel (cruciate ligament rupture), Ezechiel Banzuzi (muscle problems) and Kevin Kampl (personal reasons) are also out.
Leipzig have celebrated six consecutive home wins so far, conceding just three goals in the process. That is the best record in the Bundesliga. With their seventh league home win in a row, Leipzig would equal the club record from the 2016/2017 season.
