The Niners Chemnitz basketball team has secured its first away win of the year in the German league. The team of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore won 105:100 (50:42) at Gladiators Trier. In front of 5,400 spectators, Yordan Minchev was the Niners' best scorer with 22 points and they are now twelfth in the table with 18:22 points.
The Niners started the game with a lot of energy and prevented Trier from playing its preferred fast-paced game with its aggressive defense. From midway through the first quarter, the visitors also found their shooting rhythm better and better and led by double digits for the first time (42:31 in the 17th minute). By the break, nine Chemnitz players had already added their names to the list of scorers.
After the break, the visitors' intensity in defense dropped significantly. Trier ran hot from the three-point line and took the lead shortly before the end of the third quarter (72:71). However, Chemnitz regained its composure and produced an 8:0 run to make it 96:89 (39') in the thrilling final period.
