Dynamo Dresden coach Thomas Stamm does not see the big crowd at Berlin's Olympic Stadium against Hertha BSC "as a burden" for his team. In preparation for the match, which is classed as a high-risk game in the 2nd Bundesliga this Saturday (13:00/Sky), everything was the same as usual. "I would say I didn't feel anything like a change because we have a game like this coming up," said Stamm at a press conference in Dresden.
Advice to the Dynamo fans
A total of around 25,000 Dynamo fans are expected, with 11,000 officially in attendance. Also because many Dynamo supporters are spread out, the police are expecting clashes. They are deploying several hundred officers and Hertha have already announced that supporters in Dynamo fan clothing will be banned from entering the home area. "As soon as you are in the home area, please pack away your fan paraphernalia," was the message to fans on the Dynamo homepage.
In addition, 1. FC Union will also be playing in Berlin on Saturday at 3.30 pm. Their opponents at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei will be SC Freiburg, who are expected to have a comparatively small crowd of fans in Berlin-Köpenick.
Dynamo coach: Games like this are a privilege
His players are looking forward to the game, emphasized SGD coach Stamm: "It's a privilege to have games like this." Some have been working towards such an encounter for more than just a year. He sensed no nervousness among his players because of the crowd. Perhaps it carries some of them into situations like at home, said the coach.
After just one win from ten games so far, Dresden are 16th in the table with seven points. Hertha, who also boosted their confidence by reaching the last sixteen of the DFB Cup, have twice as many points.
