One week after their bitter defeat in the cup semi-final at VfB Suhl Lotto Thüringen, the Dresden SC volleyball team got their revenge. Alexander Waibl's team narrowly won 3:2 (25:20, 23:25, 20:25, 25:19, 15:12) in their home arena on the ninth Bundesliga matchday.
In front of 2,516 spectators, the two teams once again fought a close and hard-fought battle at eye level. After an almost perfect first set by the hosts, Suhl turned up the heat in the second and third periods. The Thuringians found better solutions in attack and their block and court defense was solid.
Levinska with 26 points
However, Waibl's side came back impressively in the fourth period, now serving more powerfully again and the substitute Miku Akimoto repeatedly found the gaps in the opposing block. In the decisive tie-break, the hosts were able to gain a small advantage from the start. After 112 minutes, they converted their second match point to win.
Marta Levinska once again proved to be the most successful scorer with 26 points. The Latvian international was therefore also named the match's most valuable player.
