The Saxon Cultural Foundation is funding 200 projects in the first half of next year, spending a good two million euros on them. According to the foundation, 60 projects in the field of music, 32 in the visual arts and 29 in the performing arts will benefit. Projects in the fields of socioculture (21), film (20), literature (14), interdisciplinary projects (13) and industrial culture (11) will also benefit from funding.
Two thirds of the applications were approved
The cultural foundation had previously received 326 applications for project funding with an application volume of around 3.9 million euros. Almost two thirds of the applications were recommended for funding by the Cultural Foundation's advisory boards,
including the "Proudly made in Eibenstock" project, with which the Erzgebirge town will dedicate itself to embroidery and its great importance for the region in the fall of 2026. Citizens can send in texts on the industrial history of embroidery, which in turn will serve as the basis for compositions by the Dresden Symphony Orchestra and will be performed at a concert in Eibenstock.
Funding for German-Turkish literature project
For the project "Leipzig Debate on Literature: Istanbul - Literature and Society between Orient and Occident", the Literaturhaus Leipzig is receiving funding in the literature category. In a panel discussion with authors from Turkey and Germany, the current world situation will be addressed in the context of increasing global authoritarianism.
The Clubkino Glauchau will receive funding for its intergenerational annual program of film screenings, lectures and panel discussions. The LackStreicheKleber association in Dresden will receive support for its "Urban Art Festival Dresden 2026", which focuses on social utopias.
