Maximilian Krah's immunity is lifted in the Bundestag. The matter concerns investigations by the Dresden public prosecutor's office against the AfD politician.

The Bundestag has lifted the immunity of AfD politician Maximilan Krah and authorized court-ordered searches and seizures. The plenary session approved a corresponding motion. Bundestag President Julia Klöckner (CDU) interrupted a debate on a care law for the short-notice vote. Klöckner did not mention the name of the person concerned, but it can be found in the Bundestag document on the case.

Investigation in Dresden

According to information from the German Press Agency, the Dresden public prosecutor's office is responsible for the proceedings in question. In May, the Dresden Public Prosecutor General's Office opened an investigation into bribery and money laundering in connection with Chinese payments against AfD politician Maximilian Krah. It therefore wanted to have the immunity of the current member of the Bundestag lifted, the authority announced at the time.

The accusations reportedly relate to his previous mandate as a member of the European Parliament. The authority now wants to determine whether "there are sufficient grounds to bring charges or whether the proceedings should be discontinued."
