FC Erzgebirge Aue earned important points in the relegation battle in the 3rd division with a must-win against bottom-of-the-table 1. FC Schweinfurt and ensured peace and quiet before Christmas. The footballers from Saxony won 4:0 (2:0) at home against the club from Lower Franconia and at least temporarily left a direct relegation place.
However, if Alemannia Aachen win at penultimate-placed TSV Havelse on Sunday, Aue will drop back to 17th place.
Fifth Aue win on matchday 19
In an even first half, Aue gratefully accepted Schweinfurt's gifts in the form of two own goals. First, Pius Krätschmer (21st minute) headed the ball into his own goal, then Schweinfurt's Ekin Celebi (45th minute) deflected the ball into the Bayern net. After the break, midfielder Erik Majetschak (58) increased the advantage for the favorites before Marvin Stefaniak (90+3) put the finishing touches on the game.
This was the fifth win of the season for coach Jens Härtel's side on matchday 19. Schweinfurt, on the other hand, are bottom of the table with two wins and 17 defeats.
