RB Leipzig are only watching the Champions League on the sofa this season. But Ole Werner wants to make the most of it. "Above all, every athlete wants to compete and wants to play, that's always more fun than training. Of course we'd like to be in the competition, it's logical, it's obvious. The situation is what it is, we still have to make it work for us," said Werner.
In the battle to qualify for the top flight, he wants to invest the extra time wisely compared to his Bundesliga rivals, who have a triple burden with the DFB Cup and European Cup. "In a phase of upheaval, of change, to train effectively and well, of course, to have an advantage in the Bundesliga over our competitors for the international places. We have more training time this year, and it can be an advantage at the moment, where we are as a team, if you handle it well."
