Dresdner SC's women's volleyball team completed their compulsory task in the Bundesliga against newly promoted ETV Hamburger Volksbank Volleys. However, Alexander Waibl's team struggled at times and had to concede a set, but ultimately prevailed 3:1 (25:17, 25:19, 31:33, 25:14).
The favorites from Dresden were able to win the first set clearly against the committed and courageous hosts in front of 691 spectators. In the second set, the Hamburg side led by former beach player Leonie Körtzinger put up much more resistance and when the visitors made more and more mistakes in the third and acted very passively, the newly promoted team seized the opportunity.
The Hanseatic club fended off an opponent's match point in the fiercely contested final phase and capitalized on its eighth set point to tie the scores at 1:2. In the fourth set, however, Dresden went one better, played with more concentration and pressure in all areas and minimized their mistakes. After 103 minutes, Marta Levinska, who was also named the most valuable DSC player, converted the match point for a deserved victory.
