Dresdner SC's volleyball players clearly lost their top match in the Bundesliga at Allianz MTV Stuttgart. With the 0:3 (15:25, 18:25, 21:25), the German Cup and Supercup winners suffered their first defeat of the new season.
The team of coach Alexander Waibl never found their usual rhythm against the tactically well-prepared Stuttgart team and, above all, no means against the powerful serves and the strong block and court defense of the opponent. As a result, the DSC women lacked penetration in attack in particular, but the home side also proved to be a touch stronger and fresher in all other areas.
The Waibl players only managed to get back into their stride in the third period and were able to draw level for a long time. In the end, however, Stuttgart were not to be denied victory. After just 67 minutes, the defeat of the German cup winners was sealed.
The DSC women await SSC Palmberg Schwerin at home for their next top match on Saturday. Then it's time for a Supercup rematch.
