Four teenagers took an illegal joyride in a car in Cunewalde (Bautzen district) and crashed the vehicle into a fence and several trees. The driver was only 15 years old and the teenagers were uninjured on Sunday night, according to the police.
The car came to a halt in a meadow. An alcohol test on the driver revealed a breath alcohol level of 0.32 per mille. The 17-year-old co-driver even measured 1.78 per mille. Neither of them had a driver's license. The car was neither registered nor insured. Who it belonged to is being investigated.
Was the passenger at fault?
The police are investigating, among other things, for endangering road traffic. According to initial findings, the passenger probably reached for the gearshift, which could have caused the car to leave the road, they said.
According to the German Centre for Addiction Issues, perception, feelings and behavior change at 0.2 per mille and the ability to concentrate and coordination of movement decrease. At 1.0 per mille, the intoxication stage begins and balance, vision and speech disorders occur.
