This was certainly not how he had imagined his journey: Federal police at Leipzig/Halle Airport removed a drunk passenger from an aircraft before the plane took off for Egypt. The 42-year-old had behaved aggressively on Sunday and was heavily intoxicated. The pilot therefore ordered the man off the plane, the federal police announced on Monday.
The passenger did not disembark voluntarily, however. Officers then escorted him off the plane. On the way to the police station, he then pushed a police officer against his upper body so that the officers brought him to the ground and handcuffed him.

An alcohol test revealed that he had a blood alcohol level of 1.8 per mille. He had actually wanted to fly to Hurghada with his mother. Instead, they were both picked up from the airport by an acquaintance. Two proceedings are now underway against the 42-year-old: one for resisting law enforcement officers and one for an administrative offense under the Aviation Security Act.
"Of course, everyone can look forward to their vacation and get in the mood with a little alcohol. But one glass too many can be expensive, because the costs of an aborted take-off or delayed departure can be passed on by the airline," said the Federal Police. The flight to Egypt was delayed by 46 minutes due to the incident.
