A 42-year-old man has died in a traffic accident near Großolbersdorf (Erzgebirgskreis). According to the Chemnitz police department, he was driving on the B174 federal highway and left the road about 700 meters before the town entrance sign. His car collided with an oncoming truck. The car was thrown into an adjacent field. The driver died at the scene.
A 74-year-old female driver subsequently hit the articulated lorry and suffered minor injuries. The police put the damage at around 71,000 euros. Federal highway 174 remained closed for several hours on Saturday.
